Thrown work in pottery refers to the process of forming clay vessels by hand on a spinning pottery wheel (or "potter's wheel"). Using centrifugal force, a potter centers, opens, and pulls up wet clay to create symmetrical, uniform, and hollow forms like bowls, cups, and vases before they are dried and fired.

The most common "thrown" pieces you will see are mugs, vases and other spherical edge work like plates and bowls.

One of Heathers most enjoyable and challenging ways to work as you can spend hours into a vessel to have it all come apart in seconds if speed, temperature, clay firmness or other things change.
